The 2024 Summer Olympics will begin this week at 35 venues mostly in and around the host city of Paris, with competition to begin Wednesday at the soccer and rugby sites.
The opening ceremony will break tradition — it will be held on the Seine River that runs through Paris on Friday, with boats for each national delegation. The six-kilometer floating parade will end in front of the Trocadero.
Closing ceremonies are Aug. 8 at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
