Dr. Stone isn’t like most other shonen anime, where conflict is resolved through the most creative fighter. Instead, conflict is resolved through resourcefulness and invention. While it can be a little ridiculous following a protagonist that literally knows the basis for every invention, it is cool seeing stone-age versions of modern inventions.

After spending years growing up with Bam, Rachel abandoned him to enter the tower, causing him to follow after her.

Tower of God became popular for a reason. The series has some of the best worldbuilding of any fantasy anime of the last decade. Not only are the characters cool, but each new floor of the tower offers incredible wonders that make the viewer want to learn more. The real tragedy is that it took so long for fans to get a second season.

At the same time, it knows when to take things serious, offering some surprisingly well-done action scenes in every season.

The series follows Miaka Yuki when she gets transported to a fantasy world while reading a book. Though Miaka just wants to go home, she discovers the best way to do that is to gather the Celestial Warriors in the hopes of gaining three wishes, which she hopes will become her route home.

Fushigi Yuugi is an unquestioned anime classic. It’s got the gorgeous ‘90s-style animation fans love, while also presenting a different kind of isekai lead. While most isekai characters are invincible from the moment they appear, Miaka is lost and struggling to learn her way around this new world. It makes her easier to understand, and overall easier to root for throughout the series.

Characters regularly reference their special techniques as if they were in a battle shonen. Some of these techniques are fun and make sense in the context of a basketball show, while others feel unreal for a series that’s supposed to be realistic. His classmate-turned-girlfriend Kyoko Hori loves him for that, even if she's a bit rough and hot-tempered.
