Installation Access

Military, Retired Military, Military Family Members and DOD Civilian Employees

Common Access Cards (CACs), retired military and military family member ID cards can be used to access DSCR. The Visitor Center is also a fully functioning ID Card office for all military, retired military, military family members and DOD Civilian Employees.

Contractors/Visitors/Guests

Contractors, visitors, and guests must be sponsored for unescorted access to DSCR. All contractors, visitors, and guests should be pre-vetted 3-5 days prior to their visit. Pre-vetting must be coordinated through the visitor’s sponsor. Seethe below links for instructions and FAQs.Through the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) cards are issued to long term visitors who are not authorized to be issued a CAC but still need access to the installation.A DBIDS card can also be setup to provide access the facilities on the installation, upon request of the sponsor.

Sponsors should guide their visitors through the DBIDs Pre-Registration Process detailed in the below links. The sponsor must email the 6-digit alpha-numeric code to dscrvisitrequest@dla.mil along with the duration of the requested pass. Sponsors are vouching that the visitor has official and/or legitimate business on DSCR.

DSCR visitors without a valid DoD identification card must process through the Visitor Center during business hours and through the North Gate after normal business hours.

For non-DoD identification card holder

Defense Supply Center Richmond is located just south of the city of Richmond and is accessible from any direction. However, only those with DoD identification cards may enter through the center's East Gate at 8000 Route 1, Richmond, Virginia (U.S. Route 1/301).

Visitors and other individuals without DoD identification cards must enter the installation through its North Gate off Strathmore Road, just off Chippenham Parkway (Route 150).

GPS Notes

If you are using GPS and enter Defense Supply Center Richmond, it will take you to East Gate at 8000 Route 1, Richmond, Virginia, which is an access control point for DoD identification card holders only.

For non-DoD ID card holders, enter 6090 Strathmore Road, Richmond, Virginia in your GPS.

Visitors are required to stop at the Visitor Center on the right prior to coming through the gate. The staff in the visitor’s center will need to see a valid driver's license or other valid government issued Real ID Act compliant photo identification card, current vehicle registration form and proof of insurance. Once you have your visitor’s badge, you will proceed on post and show the card to the DLA Police at the gate.

  • Following I-95 South to Exit 67

  • Keep right at the fork in the road and proceed towards DSCR’s North Gate

  • Proceed North past the center to Chippenham Parkway. Do not attempt to enter through the East Gate. Only registered vehicles and those with DoD official badges may enter through that gate.
  • Take Chippenham Parkway North and travel approximately one mile to the Strathmore Road exit.
  • You will exit to the right and travel approximately 100 yards to a stop sign.
  • Turn left at the stop sign and proceed straight through to the North Gate.

  • Take I-64 East to I-95 South
  • Take I-95 South to Exit 67

  • Make a left at the first left onto G Road and proceed towards DSCR’s North Gate

Guns, knives and weapons of any kind are prohibited on Defense Supply Center Richmond.

Credentialing and Access-Related Information

  • For information about DoD identification card eligibility, please visit the DoD identification card website: CAC.mil
  • To receive a temporary visitor’s pass, drivers must present a valid driver’s license.

  • All temporary access credentials to DSCR and non-DoD identification cards must be sponsored by an authorized DoD representative.
  • All commercial vehicles must enter through the commercial vehicle gate off Chippenham Parkway onto the Strathmore Road entrance to the DSCR Installation.
